POS (Point of Sale)

Connect your existing POS with Peoplevine Connect to lookup members, sync order data, process card-on-file payments plus more.

Data Flow

In order for a POS integration to work, you need the ability to look up a member, sync the order data and apply a payment. This data flow diagram highlights the base flow between Peoplevine Connect and the POS.

Standard Connections

We have standard and supported connections with the following POS systems:

Micros Simphony

Our most flexible integration, we provide a custom interface for looking up members, seeing their photos + history, syncing their order data, and providing alternate payment methods like the card on file or house credits.

AreaFeature Description

Member

Ability to lookup member with profile photo and details.

Data

Ability to sync full order data including employee, location, discounts, etc.

Payments

Pay with card on file or ACH on file, house credits or house account. Real-time response when processing payments.

Installing Peoplevine Connect for Micros Simphony

Before you get started, please make sure you or the person you work with has access to EMC, the enterprise configurator for Simphony, along with access to each terminal as a Manager as they will need to close the application along with drag/drop files into a specific directory. It's possible to deploy our extension files via EMC, but if not able to, you will need to copy files to each terminal's Simphony folder.

Configuring Peoplevine Connect for Micros Simphony

We think it's best to track spend based on the outlet within your space. This can include the terrace, different dining venues or even trac in-room dining. In Peoplevine, go to the Directory and under your main location, click to add a new location.

Once you've added the locations, you will then see these as options when you configure Peoplevine Connect for Micros Simphony.

Under the Integrated Platforms, click on Micros Simphony.

You will first be prompted to download the core files for the integration. We support 18.0, 18.2, 19.0, 19.1, 19.2, 19.3+, please select the files that correspond to your version the closest. If you are 18.2 or less then select that option, if you're 19.2 or more recent, then select that version. You do not need any additional licensing from Micros at this time as we solely use an extension.

Now to get each location's configuration file, scroll down to select the location you created in Peoplevine.

Upon selecting the location from the list, it will auto-populate the name. Feel free to make a change or continue by clicking on Authenticate with Peoplevine Connect. By doing this, you are creating a direct connection between your Peoplevine account and Micro Simphony for the data sync specified above.

Once completed, the system will automatically download the configuration file for that location. You can come back at any time to re-download the configuration file. Please note, the filename must remain PVExtApp.config in order for it to run properly, so please rename it if you have multiple. As a best practice, we suggest setting up a folder for each location to drop the file into and then onto a thumb drive.

Configuring Micros Simphony to work with Peoplevine Connect

Now that we've configured Peoplevine and downloaded the configuration files, it's time to setup your Simphony environment to work with Peoplevine. We'll get started by setting up EMC with new configuration. Please note that if you choose to change any IDs where we specify the ID, then you will need to update the downloaded configuration file to reflect this.

Toast

One of the fastest growing POS platforms due to its sleek interface and hardware, our integration with Toast provides member lookup, order syncing and alternate payments (although not a real-time response from the POS).

Installing Peoplevine Connect for Toast

To get started with Peoplevine Connect for Toast you will need to draft an e-mail to Toast integration support (integrations-support@toasttab.com) requesting them to add the Peoplevine integration for Loyalty to <Client Name> with GUID <Restaurant GUID>. Once confirmed by Toast and configured according to below, you will then be able to search for a member by clicking on Rewards and then Lookup Customer.

Configuring Toast to work with Peoplevine Connect

We will need a few IDs from items setup in Toast in order to fully leverage the integration. We'll first need you to provide the Restaurant GUID and Restaurant Name. These are unique to this specific location and will need to be provided to Toast to activate the account.

We'll then need you to create a Tender type to pay via a Peoplevine integrated method.

Once you have these IDs and the account is setup, you will enter it under Toast in the Integrated Platforms section.

Installing Peoplevine Connect for Aloha

In order to connect Peoplevine to Aloha, we leverage a 3rd party integration (certified by NCR/Aloha) called Omnivore owned by Olo. This connection allows us to feed data in real-time between Peoplevine and your Aloha instance. This install requires a few technical pieces to be copmleted by your Aloha admin.

Start by logging into the Aloha BOH and install the Omnivore agent. You can download the agent at https://connect.omnivore.io/files/client/Omnivore.msi. We will need to install a specific version (20.6.17) by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the Omnivore.msi file from the link above.

  2. Execute this command: msiexec /i Omnivore.msi /L*v log.txt AGENTVERSION=“20.6.17”

  3. Once installed, close out the login window by clicking on the X. Then right click on the Omnivore icon in the tray (bottom right). Click Activate.

  4. Enter the Activation Code that is provided by your CS rep.

Configuring Aloha to work with Peoplevine Connect

While working with Omnivore, they will assist you with configuring Aloha via Configuration Center. If you'd like to get a head start, you need to configure a few tenders and menu items.

Setup the Menu Item for Member ID

Start by going to Maintenance > Menu and click on Items

Look for the Menu Item 975 or Member ID (or click to create a New one).

Configure with the same settings as below.

Modifier screen

Pricing Screen

General Settings

All other screens should be the default.

Next add the item to your menu so it can be selected by waitstaff.

Setting Up Tender Types for Payment on File, Gift Cards and House Accounts/Invoice

Start by going to Maintenance then Payments then Tenders.

We want to configure a few payment options including Verify, Card on File, House Credits, One & Done and Invoice.

Setup the Verify Payment as such:

Card on File (please note that the default amount behavior should be Ask for Amount)

House Credit - allowing someone to use a gift card or digital balance (please note that the default amount behavior should be Exact Amount Due as we don't recommend you collect tips on this option)

One and Done allows you to first check gift cards, then credit card and if all fails, closes to an invoice.

You can also set it up to allow invoicing or your traditional House Account. (please note that the default amount behavior should be Ask for Amount)

Configuring Peoplevine Connect for Aloha

Once Omnivore has configured Aloha to work with Peoplevine, we will need to enter those settings in the Platform Integrations under Omnivore.

We'll need the Tender IDs, Member ID title and ID, Omnivore Location ID along with a few other key details obtained during setup.
