Connect Lightspeed and Peoplevine

Integrating Lightspeed with Peoplevine can offer a variety of benefits, particularly in enhancing the cohesion of member experiences and streamlining operations. With Peoplevine Connect, you have the advantage of real-time data flow between Peoplevine and various systems including POS, Payment Processors, Access Control, and CRM, among others. This integration aims to create a seamless member experience where customers can enjoy the convenience of one login, one payment method, and a single profile across different services.

Connecting lightspeed and Peoplevine is a process that involves configuring discounts, a payment method, and web extensions in Lightspeed, as well as setting up the connection in Peoplevine.

Before you begin

Before you begin integrating Lightspeed and Peoplevine, make sure that you have the following information available.

  • Your Lightspeed Client ID

  • Your Lightspeed Client Secret

  • The Peoplevine Member web extension

  • The Peoplevine Payment web extension

Note: Contact Peoplevine Support to retrieve both the Member and Payment web extension if you do not have it.

Add Peoplevine member discounts in Lightspeed

When you add a Peoplevine member discount in Lightspeed, your staff can directly access and apply that discount to Peoplevine club members, and incentivize them to be a patron of your business. You can create discounts that directly correlate to the membership level of the club members. For example, a silver level club member might receive a 10% discount while a platinum member would receive a 15% discount.

To add a Peoplevine member discount in Lightspeed

  1. Log in to your Lightspeed Back Office account.

  2. In the side menu, go to the Settings drop down list.

  3. Select Discounts from the list. The Discounts page displays.

  4. On the Discounts page, click Add a discount.

  5. On the Add discount page:

    1. In the Code field, enter PV and a number that corresponds to the discount percentage. For example, if the discount percentage is 12% then the Code would PV12.

    2. For Type, select Rate.

    3. Enter the discount percentage in the Rate field. This must match the number that you entered into the Code field.

    4. Next enter a Description for the discount. Keep the description simple. For example, “PV 12 discount”.

    5. Leave Manual discount unselected.

    6. Leave This discount denotes wastage unselected.

    7. Choose the Group that you want to associate with this discount. You can leave this as Undefined otherwise.

Repeat this process until you have a discount for each member discount in Peoplevine.

Add the Peoplevine payment method

Peoplevine club members can save payment methods to their profile and use that method at connected locations. By adding the Peoplevine payment method, you enable club members to use their saved payment method for your business.

To add a Peoplevine payment method

  1. On your Lightspeed Back Office dashboard, go to the side menu.

  2. Locate and expand the Settings drop down list.

  3. Select Payment methods from the list.

  4. On the Payment methods page, click Add a payment method.

  5. On the New Payment method screen, enter the following information:

    1. For Payment method type, choose Other payment method from the dropdown menu.

    2. In the Code field, enter PV.

    3. Under Name, enter Peoplevine.

    4. For the Account reference, enter PV.

    5. In the Settings section, click the check box for Enable tips for this method.

Add Peoplevine web extensions

Adding the Peoplevine web extensions is an essential part of the integration as it enables each POS unit to verify Peoplevine club membership and saved payment methods. In this step in the process you use the two web extension URLs, provided by Peoplevine Support, to establish a connection from the POS unit to the Peoplevine database.

To add Peoplevine web extensions

  1. On your Lightspeed Back Office dashboard, go to the side menu.

  2. Locate and expand the Settings drop down list.

  3. Select Web extensions from the list.

  4. On the Web extensions page, click Add a new web extension.

  5. On the Web Extension Settings page:

    1. In the Name field, enter PV Member.

    2. Next, take the web extension URL that ends in “extension”, and enter it into the URL field. For example: https://connect.peoplevine.com/POS/Lightspeed/extension.html

    3. Click the Provide a JavaScript context to the loaded page checkbox.

    4. Leave the Authentication section empty.

    5. In the Domain name field, enter connect.peoplevine.com.

    6. Click Save to add the web extension.

  6. Return to the Web extensions page and click Add a new web extension.

  7. On the Web Extension Settings page:

    1. In the Name field, enter PV Payment.

    2. Next, take the web extension URL that ends in “payment”, and enter it into the URL field. For example: https://connect.peoplevine.com/POS/Lightspeed/payment.html

    3. Click the Provide a JavaScript context to the loaded page checkbox.

    4. Leave the Authentication section empty.

    5. In the Domain name field, enter connect.peoplevine.com.

    6. Click Save to add the web extension.

  8. Now, add buttons for the web extensions in your POS menu.

    1. Return to the Lightspeed Back Office dashboard, go to the side menu.

    2. Locate and expand the Menu management dropdown.

    3. Select Menus from the list. The Menus page displays.

    4. On the Menus page, choose the menu that you want to add the web extensions to.

    5. Click the “...” More settings button.

    6. In the More settings list, select Edit menu.

    7. In the Main Screens column, choose Other.

    8. On the Other menu page, click Add button.

    9. From the drop down list, select Web extension.

    10. Search for specific web extensions or choose them from the table.

    11. Click the checkbox for the Member web extension.

  9. Repeat the process to add the Payment web extension.

  10. When both web extension buttons are added, the process is complete.

Connect Lightspeed and Peoplevine

After the discounts, payment methods, and web extensions are added in Lightspeed, you enter your Client ID and Client Secret into the Peoplevine to complete the integration.

To connect lightspeed and Peoplevine

  1. Log in to the Peoplevine Control Panel.

  2. From the Peoplevine banner, choose Automate. The Automate options are displayed.

  3. On the Lightspeed POS Authentication page, under Environment, choose Production.

  4. In the Associate with Location section, select your location from the dropdown list.

  5. Next, enter a name for the location. This should match the associated location.

  6. Enter your Client ID into its corresponding field.

  7. Enter your Client Secret into its corresponding field.

  8. Click Create Location to complete the process.

The integration is now set up and data should be flowing between Lightspeed and Peoplevine.
